Cookie Policy

We would just like a minute of your time to tell you about the cookies that are running on our site. The cookies track what pages you have looked at, and how long you looked at them for. We do not store personally identifiable information at all, just the pattern that you follow. Please note that cookies can’t harm your computer. By continuing and using our website you are accepting these cookies.

(1) WHAT ARE COOKIES?

Cookies are useful. They enable the following:

  • They allow a website to recognise a user’s device.
  • They track users while they navigate through the different pages on a website
  • They help in identifying users who return to the website.

Cookies do not contain any information that personally identifies you. However, your personal information that is stored with us may be linked, by us, to the information that is already stored in and obtained from the cookies. You have to opt into this, and enter your information yourself – eg subscribing to our newsletter, or entering an online competition and providing your details.

1. a) What are Session and Persistent cookies?

These are the ones that look at how you have used our site. From the time when a user opens the browser window to the time when the user exits the browser, cookies get downloaded on to the devise. However at the end of the browser session the cookies can expire (Session Cookies) or be stored for longer (Persistent Cookies). They are illustrated below.
- Session cookies: – These facilitate the websites to link the user’s actions during a browser session. As these session cookies expire after a browser session, they do not get stored for future usage. Hence, session cookies are considered to be less privacy intrusive than persistent cookies.
- Persistent cookies: – These get stored on a user’s device even after the browser session is over. Moreover, it is during the in-between browser sessions, that these persistent cookies actually facilitate the preferences or actions of the user across a site or different websites based on the pattern of the user’s previous visits.

1.b) What are First and Third Party cookies?

Whether a cookie is ‘first’ or ‘third’ party refers to the website or domain placing the cookie. When a website or domain places the cookie, it may be a ‘first’ or ‘third’ party as described below: – First party cookies: The cookies that are set by a website (displayed in the URL window) when it is visited by a user. – Third party cookies: The cookies that are set by a domain other than the one being visited by the user. If a user visits a particular website and another company sets a cookie through that website, then this would be a third party cookie. The information obtained from the use of our cookies may be used for the following purposes:

  • To recognise your computer when you visit our website;
  • To track your preferences as you navigate through the different pages of our website;
  • To improve the website’s usability;
  • To analyse the use of our website;
  • Help in the administration of this website;
  • To prevent fraud and improve the security of the website;
  • To personalise our website for you

(3) How to Block and Manage cookies?

Every browser is different. Based on the browser that you use, you can configure your browser to accept all cookies, reject all cookies, or notify you when a cookie is set. By exploring the “Help” menu of your browser, you can learn change and manage your cookie preferences.
For example:
In Firefox you can block all cookies by clicking on “Tools”, “Options”, and un-checking “Accept cookies from sites” in the “Privacy” box.
“Block all In Internet Explorer you can reject all cookies by clicking on “Tools”, “Internet Options”, “Privacy”, and then selecting cookies” using the sliding selector;
However, blocking all cookies does have a negative impact upon the usability of the website as well. These are as follows:

  • The “back” button inside the website pages (egg. product page) probably will be not redirect to the previous page;
  • While filling up the ‘Registration forms’, if you insert your personal data to participate to our initiatives, blocking the cookies will stop the possibility to remember your data from the first step to the subsequent steps.

(4) How to Delete cookies?

As stated before you can manage the cookies on your device by exploring the configuration on your browser as follows:

  • In Firefox, you can delete cookies by clicking on “Tools”, “Options”, “Privacy” and then choose “Use Custom Settings for History”. From the History drop down menu settings, click on “Clear cookies” when themenu “Show cookies” appears with the list.
  • In Internet Explorer, you have to manually delete the cookie files (instructions for doing so are available at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/278835).
